Meet Hanna van der Gaag
🕵♂𝐈𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐣𝐤𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐤... Dance teacher. I mainly teach children from the age of 2 and work up to primary school age. In addition, I regularly perform in the theater, during a festival or at schools. I also organize themed camps every summer, especially if children want to become a mermaid as I often provide the entertainment during children's parties, festivals or events as the character mermaid. You can go swimming with me, a real fairy tale comes to life! I also work at an after-school care center as a pedagogical employee and I have a permanent babysitting family consisting of 2 boys. In short, everything that has to do with children, that's where you can find me.
🌏𝐈𝐤 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐤 𝐛𝐢𝐣 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐨𝐦𝐝𝐚𝐭… it gives me a good feeling to be able to contribute something to children/country who deserve or need it. The collaboration is also very pleasant and my work is appreciated. It gives me a great satisfaction and wonderful memories!
💭𝐌𝐢𝐣𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬… during the Kidsfestival Futurea. I walk with my hands full to the location where the festival is still under construction and a girl aged 12 comes up to me. She is begging for money and I can’t give her anything because I’m too busy and can’t reach my wallet. In Dutch I say: 'Sorry, I would have liked to give you something but that’s not possible right now!' Once I enter the festival entrance, I see her enjoying the site and she is no longer thinking about why she was there in the first place. During the festival, my duties rotated, and it was my turn to do face painting. The line of children was very long; it's the most popular activity, and with 10 of us, we tried to give all the children a beautiful makeover. I saw her in the line, and sure enough... she came to me asking if she could have her face painted. I did my very best, and when she was done, I gave her a hug. Afterward, I had to recover from what had happened. This is why we do it. She could forget for a moment what her actual job is: being a child. Being given attention. She's probably still begging, but I hope she never forgets that one day and feels what life can be like!
📸The 𝐟𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐥𝐥… a magical (rotten) fairy tale! The weather was rotten with a lot of wind and cold... We walk through the big puddles all the way down. The photographer positions himself in cover but cannot avoid getting soaking wet. In the cold I take off my pants and put on my ponytail and try to forget the way there and ignore how cold it is. Luckily it resulted in a beautiful picture at the waterfalls of Jacje!
✈𝐄𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐣 𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐚𝐠𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐬… I saw happy children’s faces! The group had fun besides working hard.
