School projects

Students/pupils who participate in our projects will prepare their own action plan.

They recruit sponsors, raise awareness and prepare the educational and/or construction activities or internships themselves.

Projectinfo

Project info

Project locations

Examples of project locations include schools, community centers, daycare centers, youth centers, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, and institutions for people with disabilities in the former Yugoslavia, which could benefit from our assistance.

Project catalog

The projects are identified by teachers, doctors, school principals, and others who live in the area and are knowledgeable about local issues and needs. They ensure that the correct information is included in our project catalog.

Match

By "matching," we mean placing a group with a suitable project. We consider the program's specialization. The number of participants and their initiatives are also taken into account. This maximizes the impact.

Werkwijze

Method

Step 1
Introductory visit: Presentation for interested teachers/management (by Out of Area).
Objective: To gather general information and generate support. Once this is achieved, we will immediately proceed to selecting potential sectors within the participating school.

Step 2
Student information: Presentation for student groups (by Out of Area in collaboration with the participating school): explanation of a potential project, a bit of history, what the students can contribute there, and how we should approach it.

Step 3
Parent information: Information evening for parents (by Out of Area in collaboration with the participating school). The Balkans are a former war zone, and many parents are certainly interested in learning more about them. We will do this through a presentation, which will extensively discuss security in the countries.

Step 4
Official registration: Via a registration form provided by Out of Area, which can be completed online and found on the website.

Step 5
Workgroups: The students/pupils are divided into workgroups and get to work! (under the supervision of the participating school)
· Sponsorship Workgroup (Financial and Material)
· PR Workgroup
· Communication Workgroup
· Activities Workgroup (Children's and possibly Construction)

Step 6
Supervision: Supervision and interim evaluation (the participating school in collaboration with Out of Area)
Students/pupils usually have very creative ideas that occasionally require some guidance. The teachers provide this.
In principle, the students/pupils will do all the work themselves during this preparation phase. Most schools integrate the supervision into their existing project-based learning.

Especially in the preliminary phase, many competencies are required. In addition, some schools offer students/pupils the opportunity to demonstrate their competencies through this project.

Step 7
Practical Project in Bosnia:
Depending on transportation, the students will travel to the Balkans for 5 to 8 days to put the activities they have prepared into practice. Teachers who would like to participate are very welcome. As project leader, Out of Area will provide guidance and set boundaries during implementation. During this week, the teachers will be responsible for setting the escalation level, where students can go if they encounter problems and want to discuss them.

Step 8
Security Monitoring: The security monitoring will take place in the form of a reunion (the participating school in collaboration with Out of Area). Photos or a film will be shown as a retrospective. After an evaluation, we will award each student a certificate that they can add to their portfolio.

In total, the preparation period should take approximately 4 months.

Lesprogramma

Lesson program

Not all learning objectives can be captured in a single number, especially when it comes to skills. Our curriculum, which aligns with elective K0948, is a system of badges that students receive for specific tasks.

This ultimately provides them with a digital portfolio of skills.
