The Dominican Republic (Spanish: República Dominicana) is a country on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean. It occupies approximately two-thirds of the island. It borders Haiti to the west, the island of Puerto Rico to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the north, and the Caribbean Sea to the south.
