PROJECT LOCATION > Public Primary School “Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar”.

Located in the village of Sadba (Gorazde)
The school is named after Mehmedalija “Mak” Dizdar (1917–1971), one of the most important Bosnian poets of the 20th century.
The school is located about 20 minutes from the city of Gorazde and a 5-minute drive from Hotel Casa Blanca.
The school is situated on the Drina River in a beautiful location.
The school is growing again after many families left the area.
At present, 35 children between the ages of 7 and 15 attend the school. The children only attend school in the morning!
In the afternoon, you can also organise activities for them, as all the children live in the village where the school is located.
The school has 8 classrooms, six of which are currently in use.
CHALLENGE
Painting and making the classrooms more inviting.
As in many schools in Bosnia, there are no educational materials available. The walls are covered with paper, which causes damage. A solution could be developed for this.
Furniture
There is a variety of furniture in the classrooms. It would be good to check everything and see whether a sense of unity can be created. Small repairs would be beneficial.
Curtains
All the curtains in the school are old and hanging loose in places. Some may need to be repaired and/or replaced.
Gym Room
One of the classrooms is used as a gym room. It looks good, but there is no sports equipment available, apart from a table-tennis table. When the weather is good, physical education lessons take place outside, where they have access to a handball court and a basketball court.
Window Frames
The entire school has old wooden window frames that are rotten in some places. Depending on the budget, we could also improve them.
