PROJECT > Samgori Youth Centre

During our volunteer project in Tbilisi, we will be working at Samgori Youth Centre, a place where young people can discover their talents, develop new skills, meet friends and explore new opportunities.

The centre has recently been renovated and offers fantastic facilities, including a judo studio, gym, creative arts rooms and a media library. However, a beautiful building alone does not make a vibrant youth centre. What it still needs is more youth spirit, creativity, energy and a sense of belonging! And that's where YOU come in!

A place full of potential

Samgori Youth Centre currently welcomes 731 students, including 280 who receive social support. For many young people, the centre offers valuable opportunities to learn, participate in activities and develop their interests.

Although the building has been renovated, some rooms are still unused, and there is plenty of potential to develop new clubs, activities and projects.

The challenge is not so much to repair the building, but to bring the spaces to life and make them places where young people want to spend their time.

What are the challenges?

Creating a real youth atmosphere

How can we make the centre feel more welcoming, inspiring and attractive to young people? What would encourage them to come together, participate and feel that this is their place?

Making use of empty spaces

Some rooms are not yet being used. Could they become creative meeting spaces, workshop rooms or places for new youth clubs and activities?

Developing new ideas and activities

The centre already has facilities for sports, arts and education, but there are opportunities to introduce new clubs, workshops and projects. Think about music, dance, art, sports, media or other activities that bring young people together.

Creating opportunities for everyone

With 280 students receiving social support, inclusion is an important part of the centre's mission. How can we help create activities in which everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to participate?

Working across cultures

We will be working alongside Georgian young people and local staff. Language differences, cultural habits and different expectations may sometimes be challenging. Listening, sharing ideas and finding solutions together will be essential.

Your mission: Bring the youth spirit!

This project is different from a traditional renovation project. The building is already there, and many of the facilities are ready to use.

Now it's time to fill the centre with ideas, activities, friendships and opportunities.

Together with Georgian young people, we want to explore how unused spaces can become active meeting places, how new clubs and projects can be developed, and how the centre can become an even more inspiring environment.

We are not coming to decide what Georgian young people need. We are coming to listen, exchange ideas, work together and turn those ideas into action.

Think about it before you travel...

If you could create your own youth centre, what would it look like? What activities would you organise? What would make you want to come back every week?

Bring your creativity, talents, ideas and enthusiasm to Tbilisi!
